Karimnagar: Youth drowns in canal near Kondannapalli; Locals suspect foul play

A youth, Mohammed Irfan, drowned in a flood flow canal near Kondannapalli while fishing with friends. Though police suspect it was accidental, locals raised doubts, citing Irfan's swimming skills. A case was registered, and the body sent for postmortem.

Karimnagar: A youngster Mohammed Irfan drowned in flood flow canal on the outskirts of Kondannapalli of Gangadhara mandal.

A resident of Ramadugu, Irfan along with his friends went to the canal for fishing on Sunday evening. As darkness enveloped by the time they reached the spot, the victim accidentally slipped into water and drowned.

Local people expressed doubts over the drowning of Irfan since the latter was a swimmer. Police visited the spot and began investigation by registering the case. Body was shifted to the government hospital for postmortem.
