Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha has strongly criticised the Congress government for delaying the release of Rythu Bharosa funds, calling it a betrayal of farmers. She demanded that all pending funds be disbursed immediately and also urged the government to clear outstanding bills owed to former sarpanches.

On Thursday, a group of former sarpanches met Kavitha at her residence, and explained the severe financial distress faced by farmers and former sarpanches due to the government’s inaction.

Addressing the gathering, Kavitha charged the Congress administration over lack of sincerity in implementing Rythu Bharosa. She pointed out that under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule, Rythu Bandhu funds were promptly deposited into farmers’ accounts. In contrast, she said the current Congress government had been releasing only partial amounts in phases, adding to the farmers’ woes. “The farmers have already completed their harvest, yet the full amount has not been released. This is nothing short of betrayal,” she stated.

On the issue of pending bills, she lashed out at the Congress government, calling it incompetent for failing to clear dues even after a year in power. She raised concern that financial distress was pushing some former sarpanches to the brink of suicide. She demanded immediate release of both Rythu Bharosa funds and pending bills, warning that continued negligence would lead to intensified statewide agitation.
