Kamareddy: Sounding a warning to Congress and BJP in the State against further delay in implementation of 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes, BRS leader and MLC K Kavitha said on Saturday that leaders of both the parties would face resistance in the villages if the demand for BC reservations was not met as assured.

Addressing a BC round table meeting in Kamareddy, Kavitha emphasised that promises made to the people must be kept. She criticized Congress for failing to provide even a single MLA ticket to a BC candidate in Nizamabad district, despite making lofty assurances. She accused the party of betraying public trust and warned that people would not forgive the Congress if it continued to neglect BCs.

Kavitha also took aim at the BJP, highlighting its affidavit in the Supreme Court opposing the caste-based census, which she claimed was a betrayal of BCs. She urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take proactive steps to implement reservations in Telangana, similar to Tamil Nadu’s model.

The BRS leader questioned the lack of progress on BC bills passed by Telangana’s legislative assembly and called for immediate action in Parliament. She questioned why Telangana BJP MPs were silent on the matter and criticised the delay in securing an appointment with the Prime Minister to discuss BC issues.
