KCR back in action; set to launch statewide movement against Congress
KCR is also reported to have expressed concern over the Andhra Pradesh government's push for the Banakacherla project, warning that it could once again devastate the Godavari basin and jeopardise Telangana's water rights.
Hyderabad: With a significant improvement in his health condition, BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Raohas become active and is busy holding marathon meetings with party leaders on issues plaguing the State. He is also discussing the prevailing political scenario in the State and reviewing district-wise meetings to strengthen the party.
While resting at his Nandinagar residence for the past five days following a two-day hospitalisation at Yashoda Hospital last week, Chandrashekhar Rao has been actively holding consultations with senior party leaders, Telangana movement activists, and district representatives. As per the doctors’ advice, he is scheduled to visit the hospital on Thursday for medical tests and consultations.
Sources said during the meetings over the past week, BRS leaders have explained to the party chief the rising public discontent against the Congress government. They discussed a wide range of issues including urea and fertilisers shortage, delays in irrigation water for farmers, large-scale house demolitions under HYDRAA, poor implementation of welfare schemes, and rural economy among others.
They stated that the current Congress government has pushed the State into administrative chaos, akin to conditions in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrashekhar Rao was reportedly disturbed by the distress faced by farmers. He is also reported to have expressed concern over the Andhra Pradesh government’s push for the Banakacherla project, warning that it could once again devastate the Godavari basin and jeopardise Telangana’s water rights.
He has reportedly decided to launch an aggressive State-wide movement to counter the Congress government’s policies, especially regarding its callousness in safeguarding river water rights. He is said to have instructed senior BRS leaders to prepare party cadres for upcoming local body elections and to remain accessible to the public in times of need.
