Hyderabad: BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao said the latest NITI Aayog report on school education had validated the progress achieved in Telangana’s education sector during the 10-year tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.

Referring to the report titled “School Education System in India” covering the period from 2014-15 to 2024-25, Harish Rao said it disproved allegations made by the Congress, BJP and self-proclaimed intellectuals that the education sector was neglected under the BRS government.

He said NITI Aayog had particularly appreciated Telangana for recording zero dropouts at the primary school level in government schools. The report also noted that the State surpassed the national average in Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER), especially in girls’ education.

Harish Rao stated that Telangana government schools were equipped with electricity, drinking water and toilet facilities during the BRS regime. He said computers were provided to 86 per centof schools, placing Telangana among the leading states in the country.

The former Minister said the report proved the top priority given to education through the expansion of Gurukul institutions and modernisation of government schools under Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership.

He termed the NITI Aayog findings as a strong rebuttal to criticism levelled against the previous BRS government over its handling of the education sector.
