Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who sharply criticised the Congress government for its failure on multiple fronts, had words of appreciation for the students of the University of Hyderabad for the peaceful battle they were waging to save the Kancha Gachibowli forest land.
Acknowledging the university’s reputation as a centre of excellence, attracting students from across the country, Chandrashekhar Rao slammed the State government’s approach to UoH-related issues and commended the party members who supported the students. He pointed out that anti-Telangana forces had previously attempted to portray the formation of Telangana as a failed experiment by undermining the BRS government’s efforts. However, these forces were defeated through vigilance and determination.
“Those who once tried to fail us are now defaming us,” he said, also criticising the Congress for misleading the public with false promises and failing to deliver effective governance.
Speaking at a preparatory meeting at his Erravelli residence with BRS leaders from Khammam, Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar ahead of the party’s silver jubilee celebration meeting on April 27 at Warangal, Rao highlighted the BRS government’s achievements in uplifting marginalised communities and supporting traditional occupations. He emphasized his government’s efforts to provide resources and opportunities to farmers, ensuring their rights and welfare.
“From the era of kings to democratic governments, no one has supported farmers like the BRS government did,” he said, pointing at the Congress government’s lack of vision and commitment to public welfare. He stated that every BRS leader, even a village sarpanch, had strived to earn the people’s appreciation through their service during the BRS regime. However, the Congress government had failed to deliver even a single initiative that garnered public approval.
“Love for farmers and an understanding of agriculture are essential for prioritising governance and ensuring the welfare of the people,” he said, calling on BRS leaders and functionaries to remain in the midst of the people addressing their issues.
Stating that Telangana might be a political game for others, he said that for the BRS, Telangana was a mission. He urged them to continue their peaceful efforts that had been the hallmark of the party functioning all through.
“Setting aside political perspectives, no one else shares the sincerity and commitment you have for the welfare of Telangana’s people. As people who fought for 15 years for Statehood and worked tirelessly for 10 years for the State’s progress, your concern for the people’s welfare is unmatched,” he told his party leaders, who shared their concerns about the deteriorating conditions in the State under the Congress government.
