Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday paid tributes to people’s poet and Padma Vibhushan awardee Kaloji Narayana Rao on his death anniversary. He remembered Kaloji’s contributions, calling him a literary giant and a staunch advocate of Telangana’s cultural and political identity.
“Kaloji’s life and works are a testament to his unwavering commitment to the Telangana cause. His poetry and activism amplified the voice of the people, showcasing the rich cultural and literary heritage of the region to the world,” he said.
In a statement, Chandrashekhar Rao stated that true homage to Kaloji was in striving for the welfare of others and working sincerely for betterment of the society. He reflected on the achievements of the BRS government over the past decade, noting that its policies and programmes were deeply inspired by Kaloji’s vision.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao lauded Kaloji as a literary giant who used words as weapons in the fight against societal injustices. He remembered that Kaloji became people’s voice and revolted against injustice and oppression.

“Kaloji Narayana Rao dedicated his life to people’s movements including the fight for Telangana’s statehood. His fearless activism remains an inspiration. He transformed his pen into a weapon for mass movements and became a symbol of defiance against oppression,” he said.
He reminded about various initiatives of the previous BRS government including establishment of Kaloji Kalakshetra in Warangal and naming a medical university after the poet.
“The celebration of Kaloji Jayanthi as Telangana Language Day is a tribute to his legacy and a step toward preserving our linguistic and cultural identity,” he added.
Senior MLA T Harish Rao also paid his respects, quoting Kaloji’s iconic words from his book “Naa Godava” and lauded Kaloji as a beacon of courage and a relentless fighter for freedom and justice.
