Hyderabad: Not leaving any doubt on who he would be targeting during his much awaited speech at the Elkakurthy meeting, BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said right in the beginning that the Congress was the Villain No.1 for Telangana.
Starting off by listing out how Telangana had grown from strength to strength when the BRS (TRS) began its tenure in 2014, Rao recalled how the State had sweeped in multiple awards and registered remarkable progress on multiple fronts including per capita income and GSDP.
This land was ruled by Rani Rudrama Devi and others and is known for agitations and struggles. Many attempts were made in the past against this land and in the present too, many attempts were being made, the BRS chief said.
“Be it the past or present, the Congress party is the Villain Number One for Telangana,” he said, adding that this was a fact that everyone knew, he said, going on to list out each of the failed promises of the Congress and how it was working against the interests of Telangana.
Earlier, Rao began his speech recalling an incident from the Ramayana. After winning the battle against Ravana, when Lakshman wanted to settle in Lanka, Lord Rama explained the importance of the motherland and the need to return to the land.
Stating that there was nothing bigger than heaven than mother and motherland, Lord Rama insisted on returning to Ayodhya, he said.
“With same spirit amidst the challenging situation in Telangana, I began my journey alone to launch a separate State agitation and to free Telangana,” Chandrashekhar Rao said, adding that the pink flag, which was unfurled 25 years ago, was criticized, humiliated with many cursing that the party would not last long.
“But it has been flying high and due to all your support and sacrifices, Telangana was achieved,” he said.
“In the last 10 years, Telangana excelled in multiple sectors. Today, we are celebrating 25 years of the BRS at Warangal,” he added.
