Hyderabad: BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday tore into the Congress government over its failure to introduce even a single new policy in the two years since coming to power. He charged the Congress with reducing governance to personal abuse and political vendetta.
Addressing a joint meeting of the BRS Legislature Party and the party’s State executive committee at Telangana Bhavan here, Chandrashekhar Rao said the Congress government’s only policy was to target him personally, even wishing for his death, instead of focusing on governance. He said the absence of new initiatives exposed the hollowness of the Congress’ promises.
He congratulated the party leaders and cadre for the BRS’s strong performance in the recent local body elections, calling the results a clear indication of growing public anger against the ruling Congress. He remarked that the people of Telangana had delivered a fitting response to the arrogance of Congress MLAs.

Drawing a contrast with the BRS regime, Chandrashekhar Rao said his government had never resorted to intimidation or violence against the opposition. Citing recent attacks on the BRS cadre, he said under the Congress, politics had descended into coercion and intimidation, eroding democratic principles.
The former Chief Minister accused the government of not only failing to roll out new schemes but also stalling existing welfare programmes initiated by the previous BRS government. He said the Congress’s focus was limited to real estate-related policies, even as property values across the State had declined.
Raising concern over the plight of farmers, he said while fertilisers like urea were earlier delivered directly to fields, farmers are now being forced to stand in long queues with their families to secure a single bag, revealing the government’s neglect of agriculture.
The BRS president will address the media after the meeting at 5pm.
