KCR urges people to become partners in environmental conservation
He stated that various schemes like Haritha Haram to increase green cover and also ban on use of low-grade plastic, were being strictly enforced in the State.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao called on the people of Telangana State to be a partner with the government in its efforts for environmental conservation and building a green Telangana with rich biodiversity. “This is the only source of ensuring breathable oxygen and to prevent miserable conditions for the people with its depletion,” he said, pointing out that Covid-19 pandemic had once again emphasised the importance of environmental conservation.
In a message on the eve of the World Environment Day on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the State government fully acknowledges the fact that there was no wealth better than health and hence, was implementing an action plan to create a healthy and safe environment for future generations. He stated that various schemes like Haritha Haram to increase green cover and also ban on use of low-grade plastic, were being strictly enforced in the State.
Chandrashekhar Rao said several programmes aimed at rural and urban development were also contributing to environmental conservation and were being appreciated at the national level. With effective implementation of irrigation projects and Mission Bhagiratha, both irrigation and drinking water have been made accessible to all in abundant quantity across the State. While the State has struck an ecological balance through diversion of water for irrigation purposes, the government also encouraged agriculture, horticulture and meat production which in turn made nutritious food accessible to people of the State, he said.
