Khammam: Mandal level officials need to make collective efforts to bring down the rate of Covid positive cases in Khammam villages, suggested District Collector RV Karnan.

The Collector inspected Covid isolation centres at Koyachelaka and Earlapudi villages of Raghunathapalem mandal in the district on Friday and interacted with mandal and village level officials.

He told mandal special officers and mandal level officials’ teams to be available at field level, tour the villages extensively to monitor Covid situation. Persons who test positive for coronavirus have to be identified and shifted to isolation centres.

Tahsildar, mandal development officer, police house station officer and gram panchayat secretary have to visit every village, gather data related to Covid patients to launch efforts to arrest the spike in Covid positive cases in the district.

Because of a person infected with the virus, the others in the families would be infected. Hence the patients should have to be explained about such dangers and they should be shifted to isolation centres to cut the chain of disease spread.

Steps have to be taken to ensure proper medical facilities and food at the government isolation centres. He also told health and other concerned departments to make efforts to implement lockdown strictly in the villages to ensure that the rate of Covid positive cases comes down.

It was aimed to bring Covid positive cases below five percent by June 9. Hence all the officials have to work towards that objective with a special focus on border villages where intensity of Covid positive cases was high.
