Warangal: Associate Professor, Department of Information Technology, Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science, Warangal (KITSW), B Kiran Kumar was awarded a PhD degree by the JNTU University, Hyderabad.
According to KITSW Principal Prof K Ashoka Reddy, B Kiran Kumar submitted his PhD thesis titled “Class Imbalance Reduction and Ant Colony Optimisation based Feature Selection for Software Defect Prediction”. He did his research work under the combined supervision of Jayadev Gyani, Majmaah University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), and Prof G Narasimha, Department of CSE, JNTU University Hyderabad.
“He has done his research on Balancing Imbalance Data sets and simulated natural behaviour of Ants in their food searching process. This research has a wide range of applications like Software Defect Prediction, Medical Diagnostics, Banking Applications, and many more. He has proposed a novel algorithm to reduce imbalance percentage of data sets and used Ant Colony Optimization method for selection of relevant features from the data set to predict Software Defects well in advance in the process of Software Development,” Ashoka Reddy added.
KITSW Secretary and Correspondent V Lakshmikantha Rao, Head of the Department, IT Prof P Kamakshi, Controller of Examinations, Prof K RajaNarender Reddy, AO Dr P Ramesh Reddy, Staff Club President and Dean R&D, Prof P Niranjan, and Associate Professor of Chemistry and PRO Dr D Prabhakara Chary and others have congratulated Kiran Kumar on being awarded a PhD degree.
