Hyderabad: Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) is a form of an objective assessment in which the students are asked to select only correct answers from the choices offered as a list. The recent announcement by CBSE has made us understand the importance of MCQ in academic exams. MCQ test items have several potential advantages, such as they test and measure learning outcomes, and they assess various levels of learning outcomes, from basic to higher level, from recalling to application, analysis and evaluation.
Preparation tips
• Make your notes: Resource materials are many. Our handwritten notes are our customised ones. • Practice: Practice is essential for all subjects. Few students think they should practice science and math only. But, all subjects need to be practised. Use mock papers and sample papers. • Analyse and adopt: Analyse the subject, its structure, the essence and adopt your methods of resolving them. If any doubt, don’t hesitate to get them clarified by your friends and teachers.
Strategies to score
• Few students think that reading an entire question or reading twice is a time taking process. But, read twice carefully; score more. • Answering subjects like science and math are like playing mind games. So, use your mind first. Your brain is your master! • Social studies are the best subject where we can eliminate wrong answers in History, Geography, Civics and Economics and land up easily on selecting the correct option. • Selecting the best answer suits all subjects. Unless we are thorough and have concept clarity we can’t select the best option. • Sometimes, by seeing one option, we fix the answer, but the real one may be the last option. So, it is advisable to read all options.
Students work hard during exams. But, the important thing is to keep on checking the level of preparation and finding areas of improvement.
