Hyderabad: BRS party working president KT Rama Rao expressed deep anguish over the tragic suicide of Jadhav Nagorao, a farmer from Saidapur in Bela mandal of Adilabad district. Burdened by unpaid loans, the farmer consumed pesticide at the very bank where he had a loan, leading to his untimely death.
Rama Rao highlighted this incident as a stark reminder of the immense mental agony farmers endure due to the unfulfilled promises of the Congress government, particularly their failure to waive farm loans and termed it as a murder committed by the government.
He accused the Congress government of deceptive policies and neglect towards farmers, which he believes were the primary reasons for the rising number of farmer suicides.
“Farmers, who lived with dignity for a decade under the previous regime, are now being pushed into despair and suicides under the Congress-led administration. Despite the increasing number of farmer suicides, this heartless government remains indifferent,” he said, demanding accountability and urging the filing of a murder case against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the government for their negligence. He also called for immediate compensation of Rs.20 lakh as ex gratia to Nagorao’s family and comprehensive support for their rehabilitation.
He called on the government to urgently waive all outstanding farm loans to prevent further distress among lakhs of farmers. He emphasized the government’s responsibility in ensuring such tragic incidents are not repeated.
“Once a frontrunner in agricultural production, Telangana is now leading in farmer suicides under Congress’ misrule. This is a clear testament to the incompetence of the current administration,” Rama Rao said.
“Dear farmers, please do not resort to suicides. Instead, let us stand united against this deceitful Congress government. Let us fight until their promises are fulfilled and compel the Chief Minister to act. Suicides are not the solution to your problems; together, we can demand justice and a better future,” he appealed to farmers in Telangana.
