Hyderabad: Raising strong objections to the Centre’s plans to sell the properties of Cement Corporation of India (CCI) factory in Adilabad, BRS working president KT Rama Rao called it an evil move of the BJP government betraying the trust of scores of CCI workers and people of Telangana. He said the BRS would oppose the move on all platforms and fight until the Union government reverses its decision.

Citing news reports on X, Rama Rao charged the BJP with tricking people of Telangana with promises to revive CCI during the last year’s Lok Sabha polls. However, he said the Centre was now selling off CCI equipment worth crores of rupees as scrap. He said the BJP had once again proven that it cannot be trusted.

“BJP has become synonymous for sale, not trust,” he remarked. With 772 acres of land, 170 acres of township, and 48 million tonnes of limestone reserves, CCI had the potential to boost the cement industry. Yet, he stated that the Centre had chosen to treat it as disposable property, putting the livelihoods of employees and workers who were dependent on the factory in jeopardy.

Rama Rao criticised the Union government for ignoring multiple appeals from BRS leaders to revive the plant, despite increasing demand for cement in the construction sector. “The Centre is killing CCI by reducing its equipment to scrap,” he said.
