Hyderabad: Industries Minister KT Rama Rao appealed to the NRIs to actively participate and partner in the State Government’s Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme and extend their support.
The Minister along with Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy participated in a virtual conference with NRIs on Saturday.
Addressing on the occasion, the Industries Minister said after formation of Telangana, there was comprehensive development in all sectors in the State. In the past, there many apprehensions among people over the future during State formation but Telangana has now emerged as a role model State in the country, he said.
Under the guidance and leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Telangana was leaving its own mark and forging ahead with development in all sectors, he said.
Telangana was leading in completing mega projects and provision of basic amenities, besides developing the agricultural sector and ensuring welfare of all sections in the society, the Minister said.
The State Government has introduced several revolutionary programmes in the education and health sectors. After formation of the State, many reforms were introduced in the education department and accordingly several institutes from primary to degree colleges were set up to extend exclusive education for women, the Minister explained.
The State Government has launched the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme to set up new institutions, besides strengthening the existing government schools, he said, adding already Rs. 7289 crore was earmarked for development of 26,000 Government schools, the Minister informed.
It should not be considered as government programme but people from all sections, especially the NRI community, should actively participate and extend their support, he stressed.
As per the guidelines, if NRI extends financial assistance of Rs. One crore and above, then the government school would be named after the person as desired by the NRI. Similarly, if one donates Rs. 10 lakh and above, then the classroom would be named after the person, the Minister said.
An exclusive website would be launched to accept any donations made by people for strengthening the schools, he added.
Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy exuded confidence that through Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme, schools across the State would drastic transformation. NRIs should adopt schools in their native villages or places of their choice and do their bit in developing the schools, she said, adding all support would be extended from the education department in this regard.
TRS NRI Coordinator Mahesh Bigala, TRS NRI Spokesperson Anil Kurmachalam, education department secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania and others participated in the conference.
