Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao fired at the alleged nexus between the Congress and the BJP in Telangana. He said both the political parties have a covert understanding and accused them of working in tandem while publicly appearing as rivals.
Reacting to Union Minister Bandi Sanjay’s claims that large sums of money were being routed to the Congress high command from Telangana, Rama Rao questioned the Centre’s inaction. He asked whether it was not the responsibility of the Union Home Ministry to track and seize such funds if the allegations were genuine. “You are a Union Minister and must act like one. Instead of making street-level remarks, you must use your office to initiate action,” he advised.
The BRS working president challenged the BJP-led Centre to trace every rupee allegedly being sent from Telangana to the All India Congress Committee (AICC). He alleged that the “RR Tax” collections from the State, as alleged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, were reaching political leaders in Delhi, while State BJP leaders remained silent.
He also targeted Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, accusing him of maintaining close ties with Congress Ministers and ignoring their alleged irregularities. He pointed to scams unfolding across sectors, including AMRUT schemes and Singareni tenders, but said there was no response from the Centre.
Questioning the Centre’s selective intervention, Rama Rao said the NDA government reacted swiftly to complaints on damage to the Medigadda barrage and sent a National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) team to examine it, but remained silent on damage due to the caving in of a tunnel at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal, where the bodies of six people were yet to be retrieved.
Targeting Revanth Reddy, the BRS working president described him as a “hybrid Chief Minister” who allegedly aligned with Congress interests during the day and with the BJP at night. He said the Chief Minister’s political trajectory suggested an eventual shift towards the BJP.
Separately, Rama Rao announced BRS’s moral support to the ongoing RTC workers’ strike. He said the employees’ demands were just and urged the Congress government to honour its election promises. He said that despite commitments, the government had failed to implement the recognition of RTC staff as government employees.
He demanded immediate clearance of pending PRC benefits, DA dues and arrears to the RTC staff and urged the State Cabinet meeting scheduled on Thursday to address pressing public issues.
