KTR lashes out at opposition, asks people to teach lesson to them
"BJP government at the Centre has not only denied national project status to any irrigation project in Telangana State but also did not even extended any financial help for the irrigation projects," the Minister said
MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao inaugurated the Rythu Vedika at Nakrekal in Nalgonda on Tuesday
Nalgonda: Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development K T Rama Rao took the opposition parties, Congress and BJP, head on and described them as anti-development forces in the State.
Speaking after inaugurating the Rythu Vedika at Nakrekal in the district, Rama Rao said Congress had ruled undivided Andhra Pradesh for 65 years, but had done nothing for the development of Telangana. “Leaders of this party, some of whom hail from Nalgonda district, are now criticising Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. The BJP government at the Centre has not only denied national project status to any irrigation project in Telangana State but also did not even extended any financial help for the irrigation projects including Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and Sitarama project,” he said.
The Centre, he said, did not even accept the recommendation of NITI Aayog to extend Rs 19,000 crore to Telangana for Mission Bhagiratha. “State BJP leaders, however, are indulging in mudslinging against the State government. People should teach a lesson to these two political parties when ever the opportunity arises,” the Minister said.
Quoting Food Corporation of India (FCI) figures, he said Telangana topped the country in paddy cultivation, surpassing Punjab and Andhra Pradesh. “Before 2014, the farmers of Nalgonda district were witness to the worst situations. Ram Reddy, a farmer from Mushampally, dug 50 bore wells to irrigate his agricultural fields. Lack of irrigation facility and depleted levels of ground water impacted the farmers. But now, Nalgonda topped the State in paddy production,” he said, adding that the Chief Minister was very happy when Agriculture department officials informed him about this at a review meeting. “Isn’t this real development,” he quipped.
Rama Rao said depositing Rythu Bandhu amount of Rs 7,508 crores into bank accounts of 63 lakh farmers for Vaanakalam season began on Tuesday. Since 2018, the State government has extended Rs 50,000 crores to farmers as investment support under Rythu Bandhu scheme, he pointed out.
Stating that construction of 2,670 Rythu Vedikas had been completed in the State within six months, he said they were aimed at bringing together all the farmers under one platform that can be used to share information about best cultivation methods. The State government has purchased paddy produced by the farmers till the last grain even during the pandemic times, he said, adding that it had also extended Rs 25,000 crores to the Civil Supplies department for the purpose.
The Minister said the State government was committed to planned development of towns. “All the towns will get integrated markets within six to nine months. The State government has allocated Rs 500 crores in the budget for this purpose”, he added.
Earlier, Rama Rao also laid the foundation stone for a 100-bed hospital and integrated market at Nakrekal.
Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy, Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, MLAs Chirumarthi Lingaiah, Gadari Kishore, Nomula Bhagath, Bollam Malliah Yadav, Kancherla Bhupal Reddy and former deputy chairman of Legislative Council Nethi Vidhya Sagar also attended the programme.
