KTR likens Revanth Reddy’s rule to Tughlaq era

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government of erratic governance, likening Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s decisions to Tughlaq’s rule. He condemned the cancellation of a Secunderabad rally, alleged identity erosion, and demanded accountability from Rahul Gandhi.

Hyderabad: Launching a broadside against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for what he termed erratic and illogical decisions, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said people had only read about Tughlaq’s rule in history books but were now witnessing it live under the Congress government.

“In the form of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his administration, Telangana people are now understanding about Tughlaq’s rule and his personality,” Rama Rao said while addressing media persons here on Saturday.

He said the Congress had come to power in the State by promising six guarantees and 420 assurances to the people. However, instead of implementing the six guarantees, the Congress government was focusing only on changing names and customs.

Initially, the Congress government renamed TS as TG. This was followed by changing the Telangana Thalli statue by removing Bathukamma. They also removed the Kakatiya arch and Charminar from the State emblem, he pointed out.

“Save for these Tughlaq works, Revanth Reddy has not done anything meaningful and beneficial for the people,” Rama Rao said.

Recalling the previous BRS regime, he said BRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, with his broad vision, had initiated decentralisation to deliver governance to the people efficiently.

New villages, mandals, revenue divisions and districts were created for the convenience of the people. Ten districts were transformed into 33 districts. In Hyderabad too, the number of wards and zones was increased and funds were allocated accordingly, he said.

Historically, Hyderabad and Secunderabad had developed and evolved as twin cities. Hyderabad and Secunderabad were the identity of the Telangana people, he stressed.

“But due to Revanth Reddy’s Tughlaq decision, Secunderabad is on the verge of losing its historical identity. People from all sections of Secunderabad have united and are fighting against the government’s decision,” Rama Rao said.

He said people had elected the Congress government to implement the six guarantees and fulfil the promises made to them, but the Revanth Reddy government was not working on this front. Instead, it was trying to wipe out the identity of people and cities, he charged.

“For the past two years, not a single brick has been laid and not a single road has been developed in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister, whose future is bleak, now assures people that he will build a future city,” Rama Rao ridiculed.

As per the aspirations and demands of the people, a peace rally was planned from Secunderabad railway station. Initially, police permission was accorded but it was suddenly cancelled late on Friday night. Hundreds of people, including corporators, former corporators and senior party leaders, were arrested, he said.

“Revanth Reddy and his government may derive sadistic pleasure from disrupting today’s peace rally, but this is only temporary. We will definitely use our constitutional right to protest, go to court and hold the peace rally,” Rama Rao asserted.

He asserted that after BRS comes to power, Secunderabad would be made a separate district. All the aspirations and demands of the people would be fulfilled by the future BRS government, he said.

The BRS working president demanded that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi respond to what he termed illegal arrests and undemocratic rule in Telangana.

“Rahul Gandhi should clarify whether acting in such a cruel, illegal and unjust manner is in line with the spirit of the Constitution,” Rama Rao asked.
