Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao paid rich tributes to poet and activist Kaloji Narayana Rao on his birth anniversary on Tuesday. He hailed Kaloji as a pioneer of Telangana and a tireless crusader for people’s rights. He urged the youth of Telangana to draw inspiration from Kaloji’s works and ideals.
Rama Rao said throughout his life, Kaloji was an integral part of Telangana’s struggles, raising his voice against tyranny and inspiring generations through his writings. He lauded Kaloji for popularising the Telangana vernacular through his literature and affirming it as a people’s language, not merely a dialect.
He recalled that the BRS government under K Chandrashekhar Rao had institutionalised Kaloji’s legacy by declaring September 9 as Telangana Language Day. He said the then BRS government also instituted the Kaloji Award, named the State Medical University in Warangal after him, and constructed Kaloji Kalakshetra in Hanmakonda.
Former Minister and senior MLA T Harish Rao paid tributes to Kaloji and also extended greetings to the people of Telangana on the occasion of Telangana Language Day. He recalled the writings of Kaloji who vowed to chase away outsiders who come to loot people of Telangana and bury the natives alive, for betraying their own.
