Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Monday stated that the people of Telangana were preparing to bring back former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to power, as the Congress government betrayed every section of society in just 22 months of rule. The Congress government was heading for a humiliating defeat as people across the State had lost faith and were once again turning towards Chandrashekhar Rao’s leadership, he said.
“The people of Telangana across all sections want K Chandrashekhar Rao to return as Chief Minister. The response from people on the ground indicates that whether it is a Galli (local body) election or a Delhi (Assembly or Parliament) election, the mood is in favour of BRS,” he said while addressing TDP cadre led by senior leader Pradeep Chowdhary from Jubilee Hills, after inducting them into the BRS fold at Telangana Bhavan on Monday.
Rama Rao stated that the ‘Congress Dues Card’ campaign launched by the BRS would serve as a Brahmastra to defeat the Revanth Reddy government, exposing the Congress’s litany of unfulfilled promises. The Congress came to power with its guarantee cards, but gave nothing but deception to people.
“Farmers, women, auto drivers, pensioners, students, employees, and others feel cheated. The Congress leaders believe people have forgotten their promises. But the people remember every betrayal. This Dues Card will remind them and bring the Congress down,” he asserted.
The BRS working president ridiculed Revanth Reddy for failing to deliver basic governance, but promising to build a Future City. He pointed out that that in last two years, the Congress government did not build a single new flyover in Hyderabad.
“Roads remain neglected, drains are overflowing, garbage is piling up, and street lights don’t work. Yet the Chief Minister talks of building a new city when he cannot even manage the existing one,” he said, pointing out that during Chandrashekhar Rao‘s tenure, 42 flyovers and underpasses were constructed in Hyderabad. The current Congress regime had not laid a single brick and failed to even maintain the existing road network.
Rama Rao said discontent was simmering among farmers, women, pensioners, youth, students and people from all sections of the society.
“From standing in queues for fertilisers to rising unemployment, people are desperate for change. Telangana needs KCR’s leadership again. A BRS wave is building across constituencies, and a tsunami will sweep the Congress aside,” he said.
Expressing confidence in winning the Jubilee Hills by-election, he said Maganti Sunitha, wife of the late MLA Maganti Gopinath, would secure a bumper majority, and entry of leaders like Pradeep Chowdhary had only strengthened BRS.
“Just as NTR showcased Telugu pride nationwide, KCR raised Telangana’s self-respect to Himalayan heights,” he said, crediting him with building the State and placing it at the forefront of the nation in just a decade.
