KTR rebukes Congress rule for dismantling Gandhian Gram Swaraj realised during BRS regime in Telangana
"Under BRS rule, villages once forgotten became models of progress. Clean surroundings, ample greenery, and uninterrupted basic services turned rural Telangana into a role model for the country," he said.
Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao criticised the Congress government, for dismantling the Gandhian Gram Swaraj developed under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao‘s decade-long rule. He reminded that Chandrashekhar Rao had not only fulfilled the aspirations of the Telangana movement but also realised Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of village self-governance.
“Under BRS rule, villages once forgotten became models of progress. Clean surroundings, ample greenery, and uninterrupted basic services turned rural Telangana into a role model for the country,” he said.
On occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day on Thursday, the BRS working president recalled achievements of the BRS government including the removal of garbage heaps, resolution of sewage problems, and enhanced civic infrastructure under the Palle Pragathi programme. He reminded that although Telangana accounts for just three per cent of the country’s population, it bagged 30 per cent of national rural development awards.
However, Rama Rao lamented the present condition of villages under Congress rule, witnessing a decline. “No Panchayat elections, no 15th Finance Commission funds, no drinking water, no wages for workers, and no salaries for Panchayat staff. The model villages of Telangana are now in crisis,” he added.
He said rural population feels betrayed by both the BJP at the Centre and the Congress in the State. “People are watching how villages are being turned from Telangana’s ideal settlements to fall apart. They will teach a fitting lesson to the Delhi parties,” he remarked.
