Hyderabad: Former IT Minister KT Rama Rao slammed the Congress government over the decline in IT jobs in the State and wondered if it was due to the AI impact or inefficiency of the government.

Taking to X, the former IT Minister said “Telangana government has admitted twice in a week that IT sector jobs in Hyderabad have come down from 9.46 lakh jobs in 2023 to 9.39 lakh jobs in 2026. Shocking to say the least”

The Congress government admitted the decline in IT jobs officially. “They have stated this first in the Governor’s address on March 16 and reiterated the same in Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s budget speech,” he pointed out.

Slamming the Congress government, Rama Rao said “Wonder if this was an effect of AI or its just plain inefficient Congress administration,”

During the BRS government’s rule, the IT jobs in Telangana increased from 3.23 lakh in 2014 to over 9 lakh in 2023. And, the decline in the jobs has triggered sharp criticism from different sections.

Former MPTC Enugu Bharath Reddy said under KCR government, Telangana’s IT sector witnessed historic growth.

“In 2014, there were 3.23 lakh jobs and it increased to over 9 lakh jobs in 2023. Under Revanth Reddy’s government, the IT jobs came down from 9.49 lakh in 2023 to 9.39 lakh in 2026. A decade of consistent growth has now turned into decline. Congress is turning into a disaster for Telangana,” Bharath Reddy stressed.
