Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in Telangana, blaming it for gross violation of human rights in case of tribal farmers and political opponents. He demanded Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to tender unconditional apology for his misdeeds and release the arrested farmers of Lagacherla.
In a series of posts on X, Rama Rao pointed out the plight of tribal farmers who were jailed in connection with the Lagacherla land acquisition case, alleging that the government has resorted to inhumane tactics to suppress dissent. “For the Congress government, it is okay to put tribal farmers in jail for stealing land; torture them; attack and threaten their families in the dead of night; and prevent them from getting bail for a crime they have not committed, for over a month. The Congress government has shown its heartlessness by handcuffing a farmer who suffered a heart stroke,” he remarked.
He blamed the Chief Minister for being responsible for all the attrocities and then making the officials scapegoats, upon getting caught on camera. He also wanted the latter to withdraw all the false cases and release the jailed farmers.
The BRS working president also sought Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi in this issue. “Dekho Bhai Rahul Gandhi Ji, a heart patient handcuffed by the heartless Congress Government in Telangana,” he shared the photograph of Heerya Naik, a jailed farmer from Lagacherla who suffered heart stroke on Wednesday and was brought to hospital in chains.
Meanwhile, Rama Rao also extended his support to former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy, who has been in jail for over 30 days for standing with tribal farmers and demanding justice, in Lagacherla case. “Stay strong, Anna. The whole State is watching these atrocities and will respond appropriately when the time comes,” he added.
