Gadwal: Turning up the heat on Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy at the Gadwala Garjana Sabha on Saturday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said he had betrayed voters by defecting to the Congress without delivering on key electoral pledges.
Making a scathing attack on the Congress-backed defections, he questioned the very rationale behind Krishna Mohan Reddy’s change of loyalties and urged him to confront the people’s verdict.
“For whose development did Krishna Mohan Reddy join the Congress?” he asked, launching an all out attack on the Congress manifesto commitments that remain unfulfilled.
“If it was for the poor, where is the promised Rs 2,500 monthly assistance for every girl child? Where is the Rs 2 lakh farm loan waiver? What about scooters for young women? Where has the Rs 20 lakh Dalit Bandhu support gone? And don’t forget the 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs)—what happened to all that?” he asked, also slamming the Congress leadership for triggering defections.
Branding them as opportunistic betrayals, KTR said it was shameful that after defecting to the Congress, Krishna Mohan Reddy still pretended to be with the BRS.
“The Congress is looting the State by selling urea in the black market and even auctioning off Group-1 jobs to the highest bidders. People voted in good faith, and now they’re left betrayed. Is this the ‘development’ Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy had in mind when he jumped ship?” he asked.
Escalating the attack, Rama Rao referred to Reddy’s earlier staunch loyalty to BRS and its founder K. Chandrashekhar Rao, and recalled that he had once vowed he would never join the Congress, even if forced, he’d rather lay his head on the railway tracks.
“So why didn’t he show up at this meeting today? Hiding under Revanth Reddy‘s shadow while claiming allegiance to BRS is just a cheap deception of the masses,” Rama Rao said.
A major contingent of Congress leaders, municipal councillors, former sarpanches and other local representatives publicly rejoined the BRS on the occasion, marking a major boost for BRS’s campaign ahead of the local body and municipal elections.
