Hyderabad: Lack of protocol at government programmes is leaving many Congress elected public representatives fuming. After a few MLAs and MPs, now Congress MLC C Naveen (Teenmaar Mallanna) expressed unhappiness over being neglected for a government programme.
The Congress MLC found fault with the State government for not including his name in the invitation for the Yadadri power plant launch programme. “Nalgonda Graduates elected me as Member of Legislative Council. I fail to understand as to why my name is not mentioned in the invitation,” MLC Naveen Kumar is seen saying in a video that is going viral in social media platforms.
Demanding an explanation from Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania and Nalgonda Collector for failing to add his name, the Congress MLC pointed out that other MLCs names were mentioned in the invitation.
“Am I not a Member of the Legislative Council? This is like indirectly telling me not to attend the programme,” Naveen said. This is not the first instance of Congress leaders expressing unhappiness over lack of protocol.
A few months ago, a team of MLAs led by Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veerasham met Speaker G Prasad Kumar and lodged a complaint over protocol issues. He was accompanied by Manakondur MLA Kavvampally Satyanarayana and Miryalguda MLA B Laxma Reddy.
On August 30, a review meeting was conducted by Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy at Bhuvanagiri constituency. As the Nakrekal MLA was trying to reach the helipad to receive the Ministers, police officials obstructed him and denied permission. Taking strong objection to the police officials’ highhandedness, the Nakrekal MLA left the venue.
Condemning the incident, the three MLAs met the Speaker and submitted a privilege motion. Similarly, on November 21, Peddapalli MP G Vamshi and MLAs Dr G Vivek and Vinod were invited to a programme attended by Ministers Damodara Rajanarasimha, D Sridhar Babu and D Aanasuya, who laid the foundation stone for a super specialty hospital at Mancherial. Two sections of Congress leaders indulged in blame-game following the incident.
