Karimnagar: Since the government has decided to implement the lockdown strictly from Saturday, officials in old Karimnagar district were told to tighten norms. Collectors along with police officers and other department officials monitored the implementation of lockdown in their respective districts.

Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao along with Collector K Shashanka, Commissioner of Police, VB Kamalasan Reddy, Municipal Commissioner Valluru Kranthi, public representatives and officials of various departments toured different areas on foot. In order to get firsthand information about implementation of lockdown and problems cropping up during the relaxation, they visited vegetable market near Venkateshwara temple, Gunj, Tower Circle, Rajiv Chowk, Saturday weekly market, Rythu Bazar, and Telangana martyrs memorial statue.

The Collector instructed officials to remove temporary shops being operated road-side as they cause heavy rush on the roads. He wanted the officials to shift mutton and chicken markets which are being operated in old buildings to the newly constructed market.

Vegetable vendors, who were running their businesses on roads, should also be shifted to the market to avoid gathering on roads, he instructed municipal and marketing officials. Later, they toured in a Mobile Command Control Vehicle to monitor lockdown situation. They visited Telangana Thalli statue, Kaman, Bus Stand, Telangana Chowk, Court Chowk, Mancherial Chowk, and Karkanagadda chowk. The Collector enquired about the facilities arranged in the vehicle.

Speaking on the occasion, Shashanka said lockdown has been implemented strictly in the district with the help of officials of various departments. He appreciated the police personnel for discharging duties by putting their lives at risk.

Despite financial troubles, the State government has imposed lockdown in the wake of the spurt in Covid cases. Asking the people to confine themselves to their homes, he advised them to come out only during the relaxation time to purchase essential commodities. Besides following lockdown norms, people should educate others about the precautions to be taken to check the spread of the virus. People suffering with corona symptoms should undergo test and take medicines by following doctors’ instructions. Besides district headquarters hospital, all hospitals in the district were well equipped to provide treatment to covid patients. Additional DCPs S Srinivas (Law and Order) G Chandramohan (Administation), P Ashok, ASP Rithiraj, ACPs Tula Srinivas RAo, G Vijay Kumar, R Prakash, A Ramulu, District Marketing officer Padmavathi and others participated in the programme.

Meanwhile, Jagtial Collector G Ravi and Superintendent of Police Sindhu Sharma monitored the lockdown situation in Jagtial. Rajanna-Sircilla SP Rahul Hegde also toured in the town to take stock of the situation.
