Dubai: After spending a long Eid holiday with families in their home country and also visiting tourist places in the region, the return of Indian workers to their respective workplaces has begun, causing a significant surge on vehicular traffic and airports in the Gulf region.

As the Eid holidays end, the usual post-holiday rush has intensified, with people heading back to their places of work after spending quality time with family and friends.

Most Indian expatriates irrespective of religious background, enjoy a week-long Eid holiday as it is the only longer holiday including weekends to give time to plan their holidays within tourist places or travel back home to share time with their families.

“We cherished the time spent with loved ones back home”, said Muzafer Shaikh, a native Karimnagar district and a resident of Dubai. Most people visit Ras Al Khaimah, Fujirah emirates to explore the natural beauty of these emirates during Eid Holidays.

“We have enjoyed a lot along with our families during the holiday trip to neighbouring Oman and returning to Riyadh to resume work from Sunday”, said M. Nagarjuna, native of Hyderabad and working in the Saudi capital.

Salalah, a major city in Oman, was full of visitors from Saudi Arabia and UAE.

Every Eid, major Saudi cities Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam wear a deserted look as a mass exodus of people who travel to different parts of the Kingdom to spend their holidays with their loved ones or explore tourist places besides a significant number visiting Makkah and Madinah.
