Hyderabad: IT Minister KT Rama Rao has come out strongly against the irresponsible behavior of some organizations that dumped motorbikes and LPG cylinders in the Hussain Sagar in the name of protests.

In a tweet on Tuesday, Rao said protests were an important part of democracy to attract the attention of governments and people, but irresponsible behavior like throwing bikes and cylinders into lakes was reprehensible.

The latest incident that prompted the Minister to come out against the practice was after activists of the National Federation of Indian Women threw an LPG cylinder into the Hussain Sagar as part of a protest against the hike in prices of domestic LPG by the Union government. In June, Youth Congress workers in the city threw a bike into the Hussain Sagar Lake while protesting against rising fuel prices.

The Minister has also requested Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali and Telangana DGP M. Mahendar Reddy to issue instructions for stern action against such behaviour.
