The relentless price increase has pushed petrol rates above the Rs 100-a-litre mark in most places in 15 states.

Across the country as well, petrol prices increased in the range of 25-35 paise per litre, diesel prices reduced by 15-20 paise per litre.

The latest incident that prompted the Minister to come out against the practice was after activists of the National Federation of Indian Women threw an LPG cylinder into the Hussain Sagar.

Across the country as well the fuel prices remained unchanged on Saturday. Fuel prices were last revised upwards on Friday.

According to Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), the largest supplier of ATF in the country, on Thursday reported price hiked by 3.6 per cent in the Delhi region.

In line with petrol prices, the price of diesel is also increasing across the country, but its retail price rise remained unchanged on Monday.

On Tuesday, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) raised the price of petrol and diesel between 25-30 paise per litre across the four metros.

On Wednesday, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) raised the price of petrol and diesel between 12-25 per litre across the four metros.

On Monday, the oil marketing companies (OMCs) raised the price of petrol and diesel between 26 and 31 paise per litre across the four metros.

Petrol and diesel prices were hiked again on Friday by 31 paise per litre and 28 paise per litre, respectively.

With crude once again touching a high of $71 a barrel, oil companies want to wait or pause in between before revising fuel prices.

Across the country as well petrol and diesel prices increased between 24-28 paise per litre on Monday but its retail prices varied depending on the level of local taxes in different states.

The Chief Minister said the fuel price was rising uncontrollably after the shift from administrative price mechanism to dynamic pricing.

Rates have been reduced across the country and vary from state to state depending on the local incidence of taxation (VAT).
