Mahabubabad: Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod has directed the Executive Officer of Kuravi Veerabhadra Swamy-Bhadrakali temple to expedite renovation and development works at the temple.
“Four years have passed since the sanction of Rs five crore by the State government following the visit of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, but the works have been moving at a slow pace,” the Minister, who visited the temple on Friday said. Earlier, she was given a traditional welcome with ‘Poorna Khumbham’ at the temple by the priests.
Speaking to the media after the visit, Satyavathi recalled that the Chief Minister offered ‘bangaru meesalu’ (gold mustache) to Veerabhadra Swamy in February 2017. “The Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs five crore for the development and renovation work at the temple. But the works are moving at a slow pace,” she said.
According to official sources, a total of 17 works including construction of the Raja Gopuram, Maha Mandapam, two Banjara Satrams, Kalyana Katta, Anjaneya Swamy temple renovation, granite flooring, Maha Prakaram and other works. were taken up. While the deadline for completing the works was one year, they are yet to be completed even after three years due to the alleged apathy of the officials of the Endowment Department.
“Due to delay in the execution of the works, devotes are facing problems when they visit the temple. The devotees who visited the temple during the Maha Shivaratri faced much trouble due to incomplete works,” said Bhukya Devender, a devotee from Warangal.
The temple is visited by devotees from erstwhile Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda districts and some parts of the neighboring Andhra Pradesh State also.
