Hyderabad: The Mahindra University (MU) here on Wednesday condemned the use, possession or distribution of narcotics and illicit substances in all forms.
In a statement, MU Vice Chancellor, Dr Yajulu Medury said the University was deeply concerned about the recent developments involving certain students in a city-wide narcotics-related investigation.
This comes after the EAGLE Telangana Task Force busted an interstate narcotics racket operating in and around Mahindra University and arrested four persons on Tuesday.
The University has fully cooperated with the ongoing police investigation and provided complete support to law enforcement authorities to ensure the matter is addressed swiftly and appropriately, he said.
The MU made it clear that it has a zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that contravene the law or jeopardize the safety and wellbeing of the student community.
“We reiterate that any individuals found guilty of violating these rules will face strict punitive action as per university regulations and applicable legal provisions,” Dr. Medury said.
The University said it remains dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure campus where every student can thrive.
“As an institution of higher learning, we will continue to strengthen our policies and awareness programs to educate our students about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of adhering to the law. We urge students to make responsible choices and uphold the values that Mahindra University stands for,” he added.
