Mulugu: A man was electrocuted while setting up electric traps to hunt wild animals in the forests of Chinnaboinapalli in Eturunagaram mandal on Saturday.

According to police, the deceased Tumma Gangaiah (55) of Eturunagaram mandal headquarters along with two others — Eddu Lokesh and L Lakshminarayana — went into the forests on Friday night to set electric traps.

While doing so Gangaiah came in contact with live electric wires and suffered massive shock. The two others left him and fled from the forest assuming that Gangaiah died of electrocution.

After learning about the incident, local CI Anumula Srinivas and SI Tajuddin went to the scene along with their staff on Saturday morning. They found Gangaiah alive and removed the electric traps installed by the hunters.

The police carried the injured man from the forest to the road, a kilometre away, to take him to Eturunagaram Community Health Centre. Doctors administered first aid and for better treatment referred him to MGM Hospital in Warangal, where he died while undergoing treatment.
