Police said Benjamin who lost his mother three months ago wanted to perform some rituals in a grand manner. For this, he needed anywhere between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000. However, he did not have sufficient funds. Attracted by the earnings from drug peddling, he decided to take it up.

On April 14, he went to the Adava forest area in Odisha and purchased 4 kg of marijuana at Rs 2,000 per kg. He packed them into two bundles and placed them in a backpack. He boarded the Visakha Express with a general class ticket and reached the Secunderabad railway station on Tuesday.

He was caught by the railway police during a regular luggage checking at Platform No.1 and the narcotic substance was seized from him.
