Mulugu: Maoists attacked and killed a fertiliser dealer Maduri Bheemeshwara Rao in Alubaka village of Venkatapuram mandal in the early hours of Sunday.
A group of extremists carrying weapons went to the house of Rao and forcibly took him out, disregarding the pleas of his family members not to harm him. The Maoists told the family members that they had to talk to him, but within a few minutes, they stabbed him to death, reports said.
“We fell at their feet and pleaded with Maoists not to do any harm to him. But they had brutally murdered my husband in front of us,” recalled his wife Kumari. The couple has three children.
The Maoists left a note claiming that they were killing him as he was creating a rift among the people in the villages nearby with his power as the TRS leader and with the support of the police.
They also alleged that Rao also known as Beesu, who owns a fertiliser shop, was selling the fertiliser to the farmers at higher prices. The Maoists accused him of loan sharking and fleecing tribals. The Maoists warned that other people would also meet the same fate and demanded that political leaders of Venkatapuram and Wazeedu mandal should immediately resign from the parties.
