Meenakshi’s appointment a clear message by high command to Congress leadership in State?
Meenakshi Natarajan is one of the close confidantes of Rahul Gandhi. With her appointment as AICC Telangana in-charge, party activities in State will come under high command's eagle eye

HYDERABAD: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday has not only raised many eyebrows in political circles but also within the Telangana Congress unit.
More so, the meeting occurred soon after the AICC appointed Meenakshi Natarajan as the new Telangana in charge on Friday. While a section in the Telangana unit claims that her appointment was part of the AICC’s reshuffle, others believe there is much more to the appointment than what meets the eye. Meenakshi Natarajan is one of the close confidantes of Rahul Gandhi and was handpicked by him. She held different positions in the AICC and there seems to be a clear message in her latest appointment.
“Many leaders are under the false notion that the high command does not track Telangana Congress affairs. Daywise updates are sent to the high command on all aspects. Meenakshi Natarajan’s appointment will intensify the monitoring,” a senior leader from Gandhi Bhavan said.
This was at a time when complaints of rampant corruption in the Congress government, lack of coordination among Ministers and MLAs and other issues are plaguing the State unit.
It may be recalled that AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal during his last visit to Gandhi Bhavan expressed his unhappiness over the rising complaints against the government. He had even directed a few leaders to mend their ways.
Meanwhile, the fact that Rahul Gandhi finally agreed to meet Revanth Reddy in Delhi, they say, indicates that the high command is preparing to take matters into its control through Natarajan. Rahul Gandhi had avoided meeting Revanth Reddy several times over the last one year, with the Chief Minister not even getting an appointment with Gandhi during most of his visits to the national capital.
