Million saplings plantation record in Telangana
The programme is being organized to mark the birthday of former Minister Jogu Ramanna on Sunday.

Hyderabad: A new record of planting one million saplings in a day and 3.5 lakh saplings plantations in an hour has been created at Durganagar Haritha Vanam, Adilabad on Sunday.
The programme was planned as part of Green India Challenge and successfully executed by dividing the entire region into ten sectors. Over 30,000 locals and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) activists participated in the programme.

As part of the record attempt, five lakh saplings were planted under Yadadri Miyawaki model in the degenerated forest area spreading over 200 acres in Durganagar of Adilabad rural region.
In a span of 60 minutes, two lakh plants in Adilabad Rural Bela mandal, 1.80 lakh saplings in 45,000 houses in the urban region were planted. Volunteers ensured planting of another 1.2 lakh saplings on either side of R&B road, said organisers.
Confirming the record, representatives of Wonder Book of Records presented an appreciation certificate to the organisers after observing the plantations in Durga Nagar region.
All the proceedings of the programme have been recorded as per the norms and will be sent to Guinness Book World Records, organisers said in a press release.
With this Green India Challenge is all to break the record of planting 3.03 lakh saplings in one hour in Turkey in 2019 and find space in Guinness Book World Records.
Green India Challenge stepped into its fourth year. The mammoth event of planting one million saplings in one day marked MLA Jogu Ramanna’s 58th birthday.
Green India Challenge founder and Rajya Sabha MP Joginipally Santosh Kumar participated in the programme as Chief Guest and Forest Minister A Indra Karan Reddy witnessed the event.
Joginipally Santosh Kumar congratulated Jogu Ramanna for taking up such novel initiative on his birthday and urged everyone to ensure the survival of saplings.
Speaking on the occasion, Indra Karan Reddy said the Corona pandemic made everyone realise the importance of safeguarding the environment and climate. “It made us that we can be vulnerable to many challenges,” he said.
Jogu Ramanna thanked everyone for taking part in Green India Challenge and expressed his gratitude in making it a grand success. Further, the MLA donated two ambulances to RIMS hospital.
