MLC polls: Nalgonda sees 97% voter turnout

Nalgonda: About 97.01 per cent polling was reported in elections to Nalgonda Local Authorities Constituency of the Legislative Council on Friday. Of the 1,271 electorates, 1,233 voters exercised their franchise in the polling held at eight polling stations in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Polling was held in two polling stations in Yadadri-Bhongir district and three polling stations each in Nalgonda and Yadadri-Bhongir districts. In Suryapet district, out of a total 402 electors, 390 electors exercised their franchise in the elections, which was a 97.01 poll percentage. In Yadadri-Bhongir district, 95.05 poll percentage was reported as out of total 303 electors, 288 electors were exercised their franchise in the elections. In Nalgonda district, out of total 566 electors, 555 electors participated in the polling, which was 98.5 poll percentage.
After completion of polling, the ballot boxes were shifted to the strong room at Mahila Shakthi Bhavan here amid tight security. A three-layer security was thrown around Mahila Shakthi Bhavan and the entire place would be under surveillance of CCTV cameras.
TRS confident of winning seat
The TRS candidate M Koti Reddy cast his vote in the polling station of Zilla Parishad High School at Miryalaguda in Nalgonda district. Speaking after casting his vote, Koti Reddy said erstwhile Nalgonda district was a TRS bastion and he was confident of winning the election by a huge margin.
Speaking after casting his vote in the polling station of MPDO office at Suryapet, Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said that victory in the Nalgonda MLC elections was a cakewalk for TRS candidate Koti Reddy. Irrespective of political affiliation, the majority of ZPTCs, MPPs, MPTCs and municipal councilors were supported the TRS candidate in the elections. It would be proved after counting the votes on December 14. All the opposition parties have fielded their candidate in the election by providing B-form.
