Hyderabad: In a shocking case of child abuse, a mother and her alleged live-in partner were caught and handed over to police after allegedly torturing her young children at Nandigama in Ranga Reddy district.

According to information available, Pinki Devi and her husband Sujeet, natives of Bihar, had migrated to Nandigama three years ago for employment and were working in a local industry. The couple has three children 12, 6 and 4 years.

Pinki Devi developed a relationship with Chandu Kumar, also from Bihar. Despite repeated objections from her husband, she continued the relationship, following which Sujeet reportedly left the family about three months ago.

Thereafter, Pinki Devi and Chandu Kumar began living together in the same house.

Residents alleged that the couple frequently subjected her six-year-old daughter and four-year-old son to severe physical abuse. The children were reportedly branded with a hot iron, leaving burn injuries on various parts of their bodies.

Suspicious after hearing the children crying repeatedly over the past few days, neighbours entered the house on Tuesday and found them with visible burns.

Outraged by the incident, residents confronted the couple, thrashed and handed them over to the Shadnagar police.

Further investigation is on.
