Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has given in-principle approval for the construction of a multi-super specialty hospital at the Chest Hospital premises in Erragadda.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talsani Srinivas Yadav made an announcement in this regard on Tuesday and stated that the Health department officials led by Health Secretary SAM Rizvi will visit the Chest Hospital to examine the premises and will submit a comprehensive report to the Chief Minister for a final approval.
Srinivas Yadav along with Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali visited the Chest Hospital to inquire about the medical services and treatment being provided to the Covid-19 patients. After inspecting the premises and interacting with the patients, he observed the need for a multi-super specialty hospital which was taken up with the Chief Minister who gave in-principle approval and suggested that the officials submit a comprehensive report in this regard.
Accordingly, the Animal Husbandry Minister who represents Sanatnagar Assembly constituency in Hyderabad held a meeting with Chest Hospital superintendent Dr Mahboob Khan here on Tuesday to obtain information pertaining to the current extent of the hospital and its buildings as well as other facilities. Upon completion, the new multi-super specialty hospital will be able to cater to the medical needs of people residing in Kukatpally, Serlingampally, Patancheru, Jubilee Hills, Sanatnagar and Khairatabad constituencies.
“The Chief Minister’s aim is to provide corporate-level health care to the poor through the government hospitals. Accordingly, the State government has been upgrading the existing hospitals as well as developing new government hospitals with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. The construction of new multi-super specialty hospitals in public sector is another step to expand the health services in government hospitals and provide better treatment to the people across the State,” the Minister said.
Srinivas Yadav emphasised the need for a multi-super specialty hospital in the Chest Hospital premises at Erragadda on the lines of Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. Of the 62 acres available on the premises, the Chest Hospital has constructions in only 18 acres and another 44 acres land is lying vacant in the heart of the city. This facility can be used for construction of the new hospital with modern equipment and facilities to serve the poor in a better manner. “The new hospital can decongest the rush at Osmania and Gandhi Hospitals along with Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). There is also enough space for setting up a medical research centre on the premises,” he added.
