Kothagudem: The public parks in Kothagudem Municipal Corporation limits are in bad shape due to lack of maintenance for the past couple of years.
The public visitors to parks are facing serious problems due to the lack of basic facilities in the parks. They complain that the authorities are not taking any measures to maintain the parks despite lodging complaints many times.
Even as lakhs of rupees in funds are being allocated, facilities are not being improved. Play areas in many parks are in bad condition with damaged equipment posing danger to children going to nearby parks with their adults in the morning and evening to play, the residents complain.
For instance, the children’s play area at Rajiv Park in the Barley Pit area has poorly maintained equipment such as rusted and broken seesaw. The same is the case with an open gym set up for the visitors to exercise. In addition to that garbage is piled up around the park, said a resident Govardhan.
Like Rajiv Park, Panchatantra Park in Writer Basti area, Vanama Park in Ramavaram also lack proper maintenance, much to the inconvenience of the visitors. A trainee should be appointed at the open gym in Rajiv Park and the gym equipment should be repaired.
The newly appointed council of Kothagudem Municipal Corporation should pay attention to the parks and maintain them in good condition. Cleanliness has to be maintained in the washrooms in the parks, demanded B Raju of Budidagadda area.
The Panchatantra Park built at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh during the BRS regime is now full of garbage as the municipal authorities are not taking care of the maintenance of the park. Due to this, the visitors are facing serious problems, complained the residents.
