Dake Manohar, a daily wager, thrashed his brother-in-law to death for failing to repay debt
Adilabad: A man who in a fit of rage murdered his brother-in-law for failing to repay a debt of Rs 30 was sentenced to life term and fined Rs 1,000 by an Adilabad court.
The IV Additional District and Sessions-cum-Family Court’s In-charge judge BS Jagjeevan Kumar pronounced the verdict, holding the accused Dake Manohar, a daily wage labourer of Sirsanna village in Bela mandal, guilty of the crime that took place five years ago. The judge cross-examined 12 witnesses and evidences produced before the court by investigating officials before giving judgment.
Manohar picked up an argument with his brother-in-law Dakure Shyamrao (32), also a daily wage earner from Yavatmal district of Maharashtra, who had migrated to Sirsanna village in search of livelihood, on August 19, 2015. He then throttled Shyamrao, thrashed and pushed him to the ground, resulting in instantaneous death of the latter. Laxmi, victim’s wife, lodged a complaint with the police who in turn registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code and conducted investigations.
Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrior appreciated the then Jainath Inspector P Srinivas and Bela Sub-Inspector Saireddy Venkanna, Court Duty Officer D Srinivas and others for playing a vital role in the conviction. He said that witnesses and evidences gathered by investigating officials with the help of modern crime detecting technologies helped in proving the crime and ensured that the criminal was punished.
