Nalgonda: Three days after the decapitated head of a man was found at the feet of Goddess Mettu Mahankali idol in a temple in Gollapally village of the district, the torso was found in an abandoned building at Thurkayamjal in Rangareddy district on Thursday.
According to sources, Central Crime Station police from Nalgonda with the help of Vanasthalipuram police took up search operations at Thurkayamjal where the victim, Ramavath Jahender, often used to stay. He used to sleep in temples and abandoned buildings in the area, the sources said.
The torso was found under a pile of bricks in the three-storey building, reportedly owned by one Shailaja. The police are reportedly questioning the owner of the building about the incident.
Meanwhile, Chintapalli police booked a case of murder with preliminary investigation indicating that the severed head was taken in a car and abandoned at the temple.
The police, with the help of CCTV footage collected from the spot and the route leading to Hyderabad, traced the vehicle and its owner and reached the spot where the torso was dumped.
