Hyderabad: A 43-year-old national-level Karate champion Santosh Mohite is fighting for his life at KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, with the hope of being able to defeat his medical condition and get back to what he loves the most, training Karate again to children.

The young-karate champion was living the life of his dreams but fate had other ideas. Santosh tested positive for Covid in April, 2021 and eventually recovered after quarantine. However, even after the recovery, his health condition kept deteriorating.

The Karate champion underwent a battery of tests at KIMS Secunderabad, which indicated that his lungs were severely infected and damaged. Senior hospital doctors at KIMS had to immediately put Santosh on ventilator support to ensure his heart kept beating, a press release said.

The crisis due to the pandemic and Santosh’s treatment expenses exhausted all the funds of the Mohite family, who now have turned their hope towards crowd-funding platform ImpactGuru.com.

“My husband has been in the ICU for so many days now. Our children yearn to see him and his students are waiting for him in despair. Every day, we need to pay approximately Rs. 2 lakhs, so that he can live,” says his wife.

Currently Santosh’s only hope of survival is an urgent Bilateral Lung Transplant, which costs approximately Rs. 80 Lakhs which is a huge amount for a middle class family.

Santosh’s wife put forth a heartfelt appeal to everyone, “I’ve no money left to even put food on the table. Please save my husband. My children and I cannot survive without him. Please contribute to our ImpactGuru fundraiser:https://www.impactguru.com/fundraiser/help-santosh-mohite-3-mk”
