Navyabharati Global School promotes chess ahead of International Chess Day
Ahead of International Chess Day, Navyabharati Global School organised a simultaneous chess exhibition featuring FIDE-rated player Manoj Kumar Vittapu against 10 students. The initiative aimed to promote chess among schoolchildren and encourage strategic thinking and discipline in Nizamabad
Hyderabad: On the eve of International Chess Day, the management of Navyabharati Global School arranged for FIDE-rated player Manoj Kumar Vittapu to play a simultaneous chess exhibition against 10 players as part of its endeavour to promote the sport among schoolchildren and spread awareness in Nizamabad district.
K Santhosh Kumar, CEO of Navyabharati Global School, said the effort was aimed not only at promoting the sport but also at giving students a feel for the wonderful game.
“Yes, the bigger picture is to make it popular, and from the response of the students, we feel really encouraged by the way they challenged the experienced Manoj Kumar,” said Santhosh, who incidentally established an international-standard sports complex, including an indoor stadium and a full-fledged cricket ground.
“As it is always said, chess is one sport that sharpens the minds of students, helps them grow mentally stronger and enables them to formulate strategies to overcome challenges. We will continue to give the desired fillip to the sport in Nizamabad,” he said.
For his part, Manoj said chess not only helps students perform better in academics but also makes them more disciplined.
“It would be great if the students pursue the sport with the same passion and set bigger goals in the sport and in life,” he said.
