Hyderabad: The curriculum for undergraduate courses is set to undergo changes soon.
The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) and the British Council, UK, are working on a project to develop a new curriculum for the BCom and BA programmes offered by the universities in the State.
As part of the project, Osmania University and Kakatiya University from Telangana, and Bangor University and Aberystwyth University from the UK are designing a model curriculum with a special focus on domain knowledge, employable skills and international exposure besides making students industry ready on completion of the course.
On Thursday, TSCHE Chairman, Prof. R Limbadri convened a virtual meeting with officials of the British Council and Vice Chancellors of the State universities and senior professors of Bangor University and Aberystwyth University on developing the course curriculum.
Earlier, the TSCHE and British Council had signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a curriculum for the conventional undergraduate courses offered by the State universities. The project is expected to be completed by May 2023 and a new course curriculum will be introduced from the academic year 2023-24.
The number of students joining degree courses in the State has been increasing every year. During the academic year 2021-22, a total of 2.5 lakh students enrolled in various undergraduate courses. Of the total, one lakh students have joined the commerce course alone, the TSCHE said.
