Many young girls dream of winning beauty pageants, but don’t have any professional help. Just looking good and talking confidently doesn’t work anymore as the field has become competitive over the years. A pageant coach can be really useful at this point. And who can train you better than a former beauty queen? Hyderabad-based Nikita Tanwani, Miss India Andhra Pradesh 2019, has come up with a pageant training platform called ‘Conquer’.
From helping you with impactful personal introductions, posture and ramp walk, social media strategising, makeup and hair sessions to teaching you pageant etiquette and even conducting mock pageants, Nikita’s platform is gaining popularity among young girls across the country.
Currently online due to the pandemic, the 26-year-old engineer-turned-beauty queen is planning to open an academy soon. She hopes to collaborate with photographers, stylists, designers, makeup artistes and hair stylists.
“I always wanted to be a part of the glamour industry, so I moved to Hyderabad from Jaipur. I began modelling in 2018 and won Miss India Andhra Pradesh in 2019. However, the journey was not easy because I couldn’t find much information anywhere on how to groom and train myself. So, with my pageant experience, I started a YouTube channel to help other outsiders like me,” shares Nikita, who has 12.6k subscribers on the platform.
One of Nikita’s videos providing insight on how much she spent during her Miss India journey went viral and got 64k hits on YouTube. “I began conducting workshops for people who were interested to learn more from me. I was always booked completely. So I quit my corporate job last year and decided to focus on this full-time. I wanted to do something different,” shares Nikita, who provides silver and gold packages at an affordable price of Rs 9,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
Nikita, who has trained 80 girls so far, also has a client from Japan who is undergoing training for Miss World Japan. “Right now, I am only training girls but I hope to make this more gender inclusive in the future,” she concludes.
