Hyderabad: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has warned aspiring MBBS students not to take admissions in medical institutions located in Belize, northeastern coast of Central America and one medical college in Uzbekistan.
In a notice, the NMC has advised Indian students to avoid seeking admission in three medical institutions at Belize including Central American Health and Sciences University, Columbus Central University and Washington University of Health and Sciences.
The NMC has also directed students to avoid taking admissions in the Chirchik Branch of Tashkent State Medical University, Uzbekistan. If students fail to follow this advisory, then it may result in ineligibility for medical registration in India, the advisory said.
Recent communications from the Indian Embassy in Mexico and the Eurasia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted concerns against the medical institutions including lack of compliance with Indian medical education standards, inadequate/ non-existent university campus infrastructure, poor quality of educational and clinical training facilities, instances of harassment of Indian students, excessive fees being charged and denial of fee refunds upon withdrawal from the course.
In light of this, the NMC asked aspiring Indian students not to seek admissions in the above-mentioned medical colleges.
Before seeking admission to any foreign medical institute or university, the students and their parents were advised to read the alert/advisory uploaded on the NMC website dated May 19.
