Karimnagar: Covid vaccination drive has been launched across the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Saturday. Launching the vaccination programme in the Karimnagar District Hospital here, Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar said people across the world faced severe hardships due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it was fortunate that the vaccine was being manufactured in Telangana State.

He assured that people need not to panic about vaccine since it was being administered after testing its safety and efficacy. “Everyone can take the vaccine without any hesitation as all precautionary measures are being taken during the vaccination trial to avert any side effects,” he said.

Karimnagar general hospital superintendent Dr Ratnamala, who took the first vaccine shot, informed that except for mild pain during the vaccination, she did not develop any side effects like fever or rashes and all her vital signs including blood pressure and heart beat were normal. A total of 30 frontline warriors took the vaccine across 14 vaccination centres across the erstwhile district and none complained about any side effects.

Meanwhile, Karimnagar Zilla Parishad chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya inaugurated the immunisation programme in Huzurabad area hospital and Superintendent Dr Ramesh received the first vaccine.

Rajanna-Sircilla Zilla Parishad chairperson Nyalakonda Aruna along with Collector D Krishna Bhaskar inaugurated the vaccination process in Sircilla government hospital, where Indian Medical Association (IMA) Sircilla district president Dr S Radhakrishna took the first vaccine. Peddapalli Zilla Parishad chairman Putta Madhukar launched the programme in Peddapalli.
