Hyderabad: Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said there were no restrictions on the height of idols to be installed for the Ganesh festivities, which commence from September 10. The festivities conclude on September 19.
At a meeting to discuss arrangements for festivities here on Saturday, the Minister said depending on the feasibility in respective areas, youth associations should install the idols.
“If there was any inconvenience from police in this regard, youth associations can approach the Government. Stern action will be initiated against such officials,” said Srinivas Yadav.
Endowment Minister A Indrakaran Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy, Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi members, youth associations’ representatives from different areas participated in the meeting.
The State Government is making elaborate arrangements for the Ganesh festivities, besides arranging distribution of 70,000 clay idols through HMDA, 50,000 idols through GHMC and 40,000 idols through Endowments department.
In 2019, as per government records, 33,000 idols were installed in twin cities and nearly 30,000 police personnel were deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the festivities.
To facilitate immersion of idols, 300 static cranes and mobile cranes were arranged. Depending on the number of idols installed this year as many cranes will be arranged, said the Minister.
Ganesh Utsav Samithi members complained about poor road conditions on the Balapur Ganesh Shobha Yatra route due to rains. Instructions were issued to GHMC officials to inspect the route on Monday and take up repairs.
Regarding the inconvenience faced by youth associations from Uppal, Malkajgiri and Secunderabad areas during immersion of idols, the Minister assured that a meeting will be convened with officials from different departments to discuss the issues and fix them.
“Like Bonalu festivities, emphasis will be laid on implementation of covid guidelines. Youth association should cooperate with government officials in organizing the festivities on a grand note” said Talasani Srinivas Yadav.
Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy said the government had spent nearly Rs 15 crore for Bonalu festivities. Elaborate arrangements will be made for the smooth conduct of Ganesh festivities, he said and appealed to the people to install clay idols as a means to promote ecofriendly celebrations.
